Samuel Schaab works at the intersection of sound, visual art, light, and performance. In live settings, he combines modular synthesizers, tape machines, field recordings, and found footage, moving along the edges of rhythm, texture, and space. Zero Clicks is based on a library of cello recordings that unfold through loops and shuffle movements, while a series of equalizers rhythmically subtracts or adds frequencies, creating mosaics of noise, drones, minimal rhythmic structures, and spatial sound.
His works have been shown at Elevate Festival, Kunstfestspiele Herrenhausen, Vienna Contemporary, Monheim Triennale, Musiktheatertage Wien, Art Brussels, and the Venice Architecture Biennale. Since 2017, he has co-curated the series SÄGEZAHN with Jakob Suske and co-founded the sound performance project Hall with Benjamin Tomasi. Collaborations include Clara Frühstück, Sixtus Preiss, Alex Franz Zehetbauer, Marta Navaridas, Maja Osojnik, Daniela Georgieva, Karolina Preuschl, and others.
